Juicy bites of fun at Strawberry Fair

Miranda Schuch & Cheryse Durrant at the Bargara Strawberry FairGoosebumps still tingle my arms when I tell people I’m a soon-to-be published author – so there were lots of chances for goosebumps at today’s Bargara Strawberry Fair.

What is turning into a fabulous event for the region, the strawberry fair celebrates our city’s reputation for decadent, juicy strawberries, but also our community’s other talents, including arts, crafts, performance talent and the region’s diverse range of products – everything from Mamminos Ice-cream (yum! yum!) and various other foods, through to the vibrant Elements Art and hand-made jewellery.

Look! It's Strawberry Man!Fellow author Sandy Curtis and I hosted a stall at this year’s fair to celebrate and share the good news of local authors and our publishing company, Clan Destine Press. The day was a wonderful chance to talk to residents and visitors about all things writing and we were lucky to have the company of friend and fellow What If Writers Group member Miranda Schuch. Min and I had a fabulous day and even took time away from the stall to hunt down gluten free food, chocolate covered strawberries and Mamminos’ ultra-delicious Double Chocolate Ice-Cream (will I ever recover from its decadence?).

I like the mugs? Authors Sandy Curtis and Cheryse Durrant with the Clan Destine Press gift basket. The most exciting pGift Basket winner Marietta McLellan with suspense author Sandy Curtisart of the day was a fabulous Gift Basket featuring heaps of yummy books courtesy of Clan Destine Press plus The Blood She Betrayed mug and t-shirt, and a mug with Curtis’ Fatal Flaw book cover. People were keen to write down their details for free entry into the draw and the lucky winner was Bargara resident Marietta McLellan. Congratulations, Marietta!

Thanks to everyone who dropped by our stall and chatted books and writing. It was a fun event and I’m sure we’ll look at doing something similar next year. Until then, these photos are all that remains of our fabulously fruity day!
